A database of German municipal flags is presently in creation. This database is to be a platform for any available information snip on German municipal flags, regardless whether photos of flags, own observations, literature quotations, flag grants, or anything else.
Such a data compilation strengthens the information exchange between vexillologists working together in that subject. Moreover it shall be a basis for a more comprehensive documentation of German municipal flags.
The data are arranged after municipalities and accessible by clickable maps. In a future step interested research fellows shall have the possibility to provide corrections and additions simply in using templates.
Here we offer you Stefan Schwoon's database and appreciate any reaction by you!
A documentation about the flags of the 323 German Landkreise (counties) is presently compiled by Dieter Linder, Falko Schmidt, and Jens Pattke.
As first research outcomes the current flags of the 71 Bavarian Landkreise were published in "Flaggenkurier" no. 12 (December 2000) and presented on this website for your comfortable approach.

In another DGF project the flags of all of the German Städte (cities) will be brought together and published for flag research.
Our society member Gunnar Staack is already able to present here remarkable results.

Initiated by Pascal Vagnat the DGF assembly in her Potsdam convention in 2002 took the decision to compile a database of all the German laws and regulations related to flags. Hans-Ulrich Herzog took the guidance of the project.
As first result a yet provisional and uncomplete collection of the illustrations from the flag laws and regulations is available from Marcus Schmöger on CD ROMs.
A database of publications on German flags may be received in electonic form from Dieter Linder.
The most comprehensive publication database on flags will be found on the FOTW website under the URL http://fotw.vexillum.com/flags/bib_main.html.
In "Flaggenkurier" no. 16 (December 2002), p. 70-85, Hans-Ulrich Herzog presented his glossary for discussion. First we published it in the internal section of our website. Since May 18, 2005, the glossary is publicly available for all people interested in flags.
We kindly ask all readers to forward their comments and criticisms to Mr. Herzog. Many thanks!
Please have a look to the new website http://www.autoflaggen.de/ composed by our society member Jürgen Rimann. This site may be one of the first to deal with car flags in a professional way.

Gunnar Staack strives to collect information about the burgees of German sailing clubs.
A register of the clubs is already present, yet is still to be counter-checked for actuality and completeness. That's also the case for the burgee illustrations coming from different sources and partially being contradictionary.
